Food, beer and a 1923 machine hall.

The kitchen cooks until an hour before the doors close, and every plate names the beer that suits it. Here is the full menu with prices, where to sit, and what to know about kids, dogs and booking.

Four places to sit. One is outside.

Six or fewer, walk in and take any free seat. Seven or more, book a table so we can hold it.

The bar rail

Adults only, 19+ · Walk-in

Stools along the east wall, facing the 1923 marble switchboard that is now our tap wall. Every beer pours from its own panel. It is the best seat for a flight of four at $12 and a question for whoever is pouring.

The generator ring

High tables · Trivia Tuesdays at 7 PM

High tables around the 1923 generator, just outside its low railing. The generator in the middle of the hall still has its copper coils inside. You can see them through the inspection port. On Tuesdays this is Trivia at the Generator, 7 PM to 9 PM, free to play, teams of up to six.

The long tables

Walk-in up to 6 · Book for 7 or more

Fir tables down the hall under the yellow gantry crane. The station's two Francis turbines sat under the floor where the long tables are now. Kids are welcome here with an adult until 8 PM, and we have highchairs.

Family Sunday, noon to 5 PM: board games, the kids' menu at $5, and the house root beer on tap.

The patio

In season · Dogs welcome on a leash

Tables on the gravel along the river side, the length of the building. Open from the Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving Monday, weather permitting. Dogs on a leash are welcome, with a water bowl by the railing. Kids until 8 PM.

A firm path runs along the building for wheels and walkers. The floodgates are still up the river at the dam. On a spring melt you can hear them from the patio.

Can I bring the kids?

Yes, with an adult, inside and on the patio until 8 PM. There is a kids' menu, highchairs and a change table. The bar rail is adults only.

Can the dog come?

On the patio, yes, on a leash. There is a water bowl by the railing. Inside, only service dogs.

Is it step-free?

Yes. The front door is level with the parking lot, the hall is one floor, and there is an accessible washroom by the bar. Two accessible stalls are next to the door. The patio is packed gravel with a firm path along the building.

Where do I park?

Our own lot off Turbine Hall Road, about 40 spaces, free. Bike racks by the door. On First Pour Friday and Live in the Hall nights it fills by 7.

Map and directions

How do I get home?

Plan it before the first round. The driver of your table drinks free all night from the no-alcohol list: root beer, hop water, cold brew, coffee and pop. The bar will call you a cab, and the Castlegar to Nelson bus stops at the highway, a six-minute walk.

Do I need to book?

Not for a table of six or fewer. For seven or more, or for trivia night, book a table so we can hold it. Groups over fourteen, see private bookings.
